We're going full-scale religious experience here in Casa de James, saints and all! I went to the Catholic bookstore last night and picked up a St. Joseph Home Selling Kit. No kidding...they have it all packaged and ready at the register for anyone who comes in for $5.50! The kit contains one statuette of St. Joseph, a prayer card with the Prayer to St. Joseph, and instructions on the back explaining what to do with him it the statuette.
The big question was where to put him. The instructions say you don't have to bury him, but I think that's part of the quirkiness of the whole religious experiment! Most people bury him upside down next to the sale sign or near the property line. I've also heard he has to be upside down and facing the house. Our soil is a tad rocky down where the sign is located, but we gave it a try anyway. We waited until Brandon went to bed right at dusk. I dug the hole and Rob said the prayer. (Sorry, no picture of us in the dark digging a tiny hole next to our for sale sign!) Imagine Robert partially dressed for work (uniform pants and undershirt) with flip flops on to go outside to humor his wife!
Now to wait (and pray) and see if St. Joseph brings us good fortune!
