Dad received a Veterans Service Award from Lt. Governor Peter Kinder's office this summer! It's given to military veterans who contribute at least 25 hours of community service. Dad well exceeds the 25 hours of community service each year with his service to PET of Southwest Missouri, BSA Troop 48, and with his work with the MU Extension Council for Lawrence County. [You can read the Lt. Governor's Office press release here.]
I posted the award presentation on FB and thanks to some friends in Aurora, word spread quickly and there was a great crowd there to see him presented with the award. He also received the honor within days of his 65th birthday!
