Anniversary Weekend

Ok, so I am officially stating here that our travel planning will forever forward have Robert booking the accommodations and me picking the restaurants. Why, you ask? Well, you gotta wonder about your hotel when you have signs like this in your bathroom...

Make up and vehicle grime are in the same category?!
We stayed at Crescent Court in Branson. We've driven by this place for years and I've always been intrigued to know what it would be like to stay there. Crescent Court was built in the 1940s and it's comprised of  about 6 'cabins'. The bathrooms still have two faucets at the sink, one for cold and one for hot. No central air/heating.

Cute, right?
Well, the interiors leave something to be desired. Luckily, we've stayed in worse (my fault...hence me no longer booking accommodations), so we knew we could endure our one night here. The evening turned into who could come up with the best one-liners about the room, such as...
  • How many hotels have you stayed in where you opt to run to Wal-Mart for shower shoes?*
  • Man, a box of wine would go great with this room.
  • No bed bugs...check. Seriously, check.
  • Rock, paper, scissors to see who gets to shower first in case we run out of hot water.
And I wish I had photographed the sign at check-in concerning fires. It went something like, "If you think a fire has started in your unit...
  1. Don't panic
  2. [Can't remember]
  3. Contact the manager
Nowhere on the sign did it say CALL 911!

This place would be so great if someone totally renovated and somewhat updated the interiors. It has such potential! There are great wood doors and trim inside. Upgraded bedding....flat-screen televisions...oh, the potential!

The evening was not a total loss. It included dinner out. A few weeks ago, I bought a fabulous Calvin Klein dress that required a fancy, upscale restaurant visit, so we made reservations at Level 2 Steakhouse

It.was.awesome. The dinner was all by candlelight. I think because it was 1. Easter 2. stormy and 3. a Sunday, the restaurant was not busy at all, so we got great personal attention by the wait staff.

The restaurant was so dark that Robert had a hard time reading the menu!
Rob had a steak. I had Pasta del Mar that included shrimp, crab, lobster, and swordfish! I had also read a review of the restaurant and it really recommended the egg noodles and cheese. And that was delicious too! Even the wine I picked was perfect! And to top off a great experience, the restaurant gave us a complimentary dessert for our anniversary!! We chose the 7 layer chocolate cake. And this wasn't some simple piece of cake. It looked like it was cut from a foot tall cake! It was huge...and delicious!!

Finishing off the giant piece of cake once back in our room and in our elastic pants. ;)
We did a little shopping the next day. We lucked out and hit Tanger Outlet while it wasn't raining! We were fortunate to make it home before the rivers rose too high. (It rained and rained and rained Sunday and Monday.)

A very memorable anniversary!

*We really did go to Wal-Mart and get sandals to wear in the shower!
